Grants are a major part of most students' financial aid package and are fairly easy to apply for. And you don't have to pay them back either.

Federal Pell Grant

What You Get:

  • Maximum of $5,500.00

How to Get It:

  • Fill out a MyFSA Financial Aid Application
  • Have Financial Aid as determined by the MyFSA Form
  • Be a Full-Time or Part-Time Student (At least 12 units under the Semester System)
  • Amount of Award is determined by how much your parents made in the previous year


Academic Competitiveness Grant

What You Get:

  • $750.00 For your 1st Year of Study
  • $1,300.00 For your 2nd Year of Study

How to Get It:

  • Fill out a MyFSA Financial Aid Application
  • Be Approved for a Federal Pell Grant
  • Enroll at least half-time in a Degree Program
  • If you are CURRENTLY a College Freshman applying for this award, you must have AT LEAST a
    3.0 GPA



National Science and Mathematics Access to Retain Talent Grant
(National Smart Grant)


What You Get:

  • Up to $4,000.00 For your 3rd Year of Study
  • Up to $4,000.00 For your 4th Year of Study

How to Get It:

  • Fill out a MyFSA Financial Aid Application
  • Be Approved for a Federal Pell Grant
  • Enroll at least half-time in a Degree Program
  • Major in the Sciences (Life, Physical, or Computer Sciences), Math, Technology, Engineering, or a Critical Foreign Language
  • You must have AT LEAST a 3.0 GPA
